The BritishPopSongs founder and CEO have executive-produced the new album himself, billed as the first “original” album to penned by Ian Nilsen for himself. According to the label – the album “provides a real unique insight and no-holds-barred access to many of the secrets behind his working methods, recordings, artwork, photography and features probably some of his best works to date”.
Written and produced by entirely by himself, the album has been in the works for several years, due to the massive amounts of commitments Ian has both with his label and management activities.
“I discovered that many of the songs i wrote for myself build on a large amount of frustrations, things that i not often put in work that i do for other artists, so it has also been interesting for me to discover that part of me.”
After a false start with “She Told She Over Me Not “, his very first single as Stian Summer, the Volume One album contains 10 superbly produced pop classics in his trademark 80’s British song writing tradition blended with the kind of Swedish production of 2017 that he embraces so much. With his somehow unpolished voice, his big sounding synth-scapes and ultra catchy songs, Ian Nilsen introduces his full musical universe all at once and it could well be that it’s been well worth the wait in the end.
